WE COME IN WAVES
Waves ― we often equate waves to a sunny walk in the beach with a fancy drink on hand, but we do not recognize the inner workings of such a force. Waves begin with one ripple, stretching and vibrating itself until it reaches the shores. Much like the Feminism Movement, it all began with one voice echoing herself until her war cry is heard across continents. In “We Come In Waves”, Intel Lastierre’s work focuses on the Waves of the Feminism Movement. The artist wants to emphasize that Feminism is never a new concept or just a fad. Feminism is a challenge to the preconceived notions of the patriarchy. It is an acknowledgment to all the silenced women in human history. It is the signal all women heed to fight for equal rights. It is the overdue respect the women around us needs and deserves.

First Wave: Legal Rights. We do not serve you, We stand beside you.

Second Wave: The Personal is Political What we do under the sheets Affects traffic in the streets.

Third Wave: Sexual Liberation. I don’t need a permit for fun and love to meet.

Fourth Wave: #MeToo. You inflicted pain to me before; I will not stay silent anymore.
